Election got you in knots?

Are you tired? Not feeling well? Struggling to survive? Got work, family commitments, etc...? Me too. Tied up in knots over this election? Me too!!

Well, I considered tuning-out until it was all over, because my stomach can't take much more. However, I had a talk with myself and, instead, we decided that if this election goes by and Trump wins the White House, and I had not done everything in my power to help the campaign, I would be in-part to blame.

So, yesterday I helped at a phone bank. It was awkward, there were forms, there were people I didn't know -- but I overcame the social anxiety and did my best -- and I'm glad I did. I talked to Hillary/Democratic-Ticket-supporters, Trump-lovers, Undecideds... Some ranted and hung up, others were happy to chat, one guy wanted me to give a message to Hillary, (I told him I would write it on the form). The house was full of volunteers inside and outside, with many first-timers feeling the same as I. Everyone came together to do what they could.

So, yes, there is more that can be done beyond fighting with our friends and family on Facebook!

Not good on the phone? There are many other tasks that need to be done -- data entry, canvassing (locally and in neighboring states), hosting events, coordination, training, etc.

Please consider stepping outside your comfort zone for our country. Here is where you can find events in your area:

Incognito Witch returns to the Awareness Film Fest with A Lonely Heart in the Crowd, a music video about reaching a loved one with mental illness.

 For Immediate Release:

For release through October 10, 2016
Contact: Mollie Kellogg: artist@molliekellogg.com

(September 14, 2016, Los Angeles, CA) Creative Sorceress Mollie Kellogg’s short musical film, A Lonely Heart in the Crowd, will screen at the Awareness Film Fest October 10, 2016, in the 7pm-9pm block of short films at LA Live Regal Cinemas at 1000 W Olympic Blvd in Los Angeles, CA. Purchase tickets at http://awarenessfestival.org/screening/a-lonely-heart-in-the-crowd/

The 6:36 min video, song lyrics by Mollie Kellogg and music composed by T. Collins Logan, asks, “When someone you love is drifting away, do you let go or make a strong play?” Upon the advice of Mama Witch, G the Incognito Witch reaches out to a loved one struggling with mental illness.

The Sacramento Bee calls A Lonely Heart in the Crowd a “strong work” and “a quirky and compelling video that explores love, loss and mental illness.” The film’s world premiere was in New York City at the Magikal Charm Video Fest and has since screened across the US, winning “Best Musical” at the Fantasmagorical Film Fest in Kentucky and Award of Excellence at the California State Fair; and internationally at the 2016 AVIFF Cannes Art Film Festival in France.

The Incognito Witch character was inspired by Artwork by Mollie Kellogg and the storyline reflects lived experience and a message of determination. “My film and art helps me process and share complicated themes that I am passionate about,” says Kellogg, “Without the help of metal health resources like NAMI and BPD Global, my story may have had a drastically different conclusion. It is scary to put such a personal story forward, but sharing can diminish the fear and stigma; education can change perceptions and save lives.”
