Seeking safe return of the original art

UPDATE 5-28-12 Mark and David have retrieved their work, YAY!

UPDATE 5-22-12: Terry Brown was able to retrieve work. Fingers crossed for Mark and David! S3X may have a new gallery lined up on Sutter in the San Fransisco.

UPDATE 5-19-12: I just received my paintings and print back from San Fransisco. Thanks to Richard Harris, PI (and his wife) of East Bay Detective Agency in San Fransisco for his vigilance. And to Alex at The Packaging Store on Piedmont in Oakland, who did a very nice job packaging up the work to ship back once Richard had it in his possession.

My triumph is bittersweet, however. It turns out artists David Hinnebusch (, Mark O'Bryan (, and Terry Brown ( have yet to make contact with Alec or Nyiema to retrieve their work.

UPDATE 5-17-12: With the assistance of Richard Harris of the East Bay Detective Agency and the cooperation of the property manager, artists David Hinnebusch and Mark O'Bryan, (also looking to retrieve their work), and ultimately, Nyiema of S3X Gallery, my work is on its way back to me.

Anyone trying to contact S3X Gallery, this is from one of Nyiema's last emails to me: "S3X Gallery is still open but is moving to a new location.  We are in the process of moving out of our old space at 55 Taylor St. Our new location is in San Francisco's SOMA neighborhood. All requests for return of artwork or to contact the gallery, should be made via email to or 415-562-4729 or 415-562-4278.  Please leave a message if we don't pick up and we'll try to get back to you within the hour."

I am in San Diego and an art gallery in San Fransisco has four works of my original art and a print. The outcome I seek is the safe return of the original art.

The gallery, opened by a couple, Nyiema Bayfield and Alec Boykin, (and someone named Kahn), in February, have not returned calls, accepted certified mail or answered email requesting the return of work.

The landlord says the gallery is closed.
