Behind the Scenes of My Goddess, My Love

Oni models for "My Goddess, My Love" with assistance from her brother, Petyr. We also shot the reference for "Swing" on this day in our neighborhood park.

The original painting is on display through April at Blynn Galleries in Scottsdale, Arizona. "My Goddess, My Love" appeared in UU World Magazine, in print and online.

The Process - Desert Girl Talks to the Sea God

While briefly meditating (taking a break from work and trying not to think about the work) on the beach Solana Beach, a flash of a presence made itself known to me. This painting came from that "vision."

I went back and tried again to recreate the experience. This time I think I was advised to buy a lottery ticket. I didn't. After that the Sea god stopped giving me advise.

The detail photo is of a real shell attached to the canvas accented with gold foil.

Haiti 5x7 Art Auction - work in progress

Prepping some small works to donate for the Haiti 5x7 Art Auction

Hope to have it ready by end of day. These first steps in my process take the longest because each phase needs to dry completely.

the sun was coming up as i headed for bed. planning on sleeping in late -- unfortunately parrots and kids were not privy to that information. one section shy of completion, and completion means handing it off for someone else to obsess over.

here are some of the layouts.

the header will not show all the images at once, (see the third layout above).

the words are FPO, for position only, place holders.

some painting will have additional thumbnails showing the art on display, behind the scenes shots, and process shots.

i am using site grinder, a photoshop plug-in, to prep the files and it is evil. i have an obsessive love/hate relationship with site grinder. if it were a person we would definitely need therapy.

Behind the Scenes of Dark Desert

Getting lost while hiking in Joshua Tree National Park led to the inspiration for Dark Desert. Aware of the sun on my skin, I wanted to hide, cover my face. This is an outtake from the photos shot. Later I re-staged the scene to get additional reference with different attire.

Below is the final painting.

G-4 shoot

G-4 and her sister G-5 (see previous post) are both in progress
and I hope to have each completed by March.
The website redesign has taken me away from the easel
and my impatient children are calling to me.

Promotion vs Painting

The candle is burning... from both ends.
The creative end and the marketing end.
They need each other, but as two a.m. comes and goes, the mind is chanting "simplify--simplify-- simplify." However, not being one to compromise, i will most likely continue this pace until my body takes up the mind's cause.

Seven revises later, here is my Cover and Full Page inside front cover ad due out in March.

Now back to the website.

Behind the Scenes of Feather

Many times when I have an idea for a painting,
I am the only person around.
The reference for "Feather" was shot using a mirror.
The above photo is an outtake.

Below is the finished painting.
